Every Practice of Boston subscription includes access to the full terminal interface, the visual rule builder for strategy configuration, the scripting interface for advanced users, basic risk controls (daily loss floor and position limits), and the backtesting engine with at least two years of historical tick data. There are no per-trade fees charged by Practice of Boston — your broker's standard commission structure applies to your orders as normal. Plans are billed monthly, and you can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel at the end of any billing period. No minimum commitment is required on the Starter or Professional tiers.
No. Practice of Boston charges a flat monthly subscription only. Your broker charges commissions on your orders as they normally would — that's separate from your terminal subscription and entirely between you and your broker.
Yes — the backtesting engine is available on every plan. You can run your strategy logic against historical tick data for as long as you need before activating it on the live feed. No live capital is required to use the backtesting engine.
Automated order submission is suspended for the remainder of that trading session. You receive a notification in the terminal dashboard. Manual order submission remains available. At the start of the next session, automated trading resumes unless you have manually locked the strategy.
Practice of Boston connects to brokers that support FIX protocol or standard REST order APIs. A current list of tested and supported broker integrations is available in the terminal's documentation, which you can access after signing up. We add new integrations regularly.
You can upgrade immediately — the additional capability is available the same day and the price difference is prorated to your billing date. Downgrades take effect at the start of the next billing period.
Reach out and we'll walk you through which tier fits your strategy count, instrument list, and risk setup.
